England midfielder Declan Rice has made it clear that the Three Lions will approach their FIFA World Cup showdown against Ghana with confidence, insisting they are prepared for whatever the Black Stars bring to the contest.

England face Ghana in a crucial Group L encounter on Tuesday in Boston, with both nations seeking a second consecutive victory after winning their opening matches of the tournament.

The Three Lions began their campaign with an entertaining 4-2 victory over Croatia, while Ghana edged Panama 1-0 thanks to a dramatic late strike from Caleb Yirenkyi.

Rice, who played a key role in England’s opening success, believes his side’s second-half display against Croatia demonstrated the level they must maintain as the tournament progresses.

The Arsenal midfielder, however, expects a completely different challenge against a Ghanaian team known for its athleticism, speed and attacking threat.

Having previously faced several members of the Black Stars squad at club level, Rice says he has a clear understanding of the qualities Ghana will bring to the match.

“I’ve played against a lot of the Ghana team and from the clips I know what they’re going to bring,” Rice said.

The England star highlighted the physical attributes of Carlos Queiroz’s side and warned that his teammates must remain alert throughout the encounter.

“They’re going to bring strength, pace. They’re going to want to catch us out on the counter-attack. So we need to be ready for everything.”

Rice also pointed to his previous experiences against a number of Ghana’s players as an advantage heading into the highly anticipated fixture.

“But also, having played against a lot of those players, I already know what’s going to be coming tomorrow.”

Despite his respect for the Black Stars, Rice emphasized England’s confidence and determination as they pursue top spot in Group L.
