England manager Thomas Tuchel has acknowledged Ghana’s pedigree on the international stage while warning that his side will approach Tuesday’s FIFA World Cup clash with even greater determination.

The Three Lions face the Black Stars in a highly anticipated Group L encounter, with both teams entering the match on the back of opening-round victories at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

England strengthened their credentials as title contenders with a 4-2 win over Croatia, while Ghana secured a dramatic 1-0 triumph over Panama thanks to Caleb Yirenkyi’s late winner in Toronto.

Speaking ahead of the showdown, Tuchel praised the quality within the Ghana squad and highlighted the challenge awaiting his players against one of Africa’s most successful football nations.

“It’s bad news for Ghana because we will be very motivated,” the England boss said.

The former Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain manager pointed to the competitiveness of Group L, describing it as one of the toughest sections in the tournament.

Tuchel also underlined Ghana’s long-standing reputation in world football, noting the strength and talent available to the Black Stars.

“We are playing in one of the most difficult groups, and Ghana is a traditional top football country with outstanding players,” he added.

The remarks reflect the respect England have for Carlos Queiroz’s side despite being widely tipped as favourites heading into the contest.

Ghana are seeking to build on their winning start and move closer to qualification for the Round of 16, while England know another victory could secure their place in the knockout phase with a game to spare.

With both nations level on three points, the clash at Gillette Stadium in Boston is expected to play a decisive role in determining the eventual winners of Group L.
