Black Challenge Set for Global Stage at 2026 WAFF Amputee Football World Cup

Ghana’s national amputee football side, the Black Challenge, will compete among the world’s best later this year after confirming qualification for the 2026 WAFF Amputee Football World Cup in San Juan de los Lagos.

The tournament is scheduled to run from November 13 to 22 in Mexico and will feature 24 nations from across four continents competing for global honours in amputee football.

Ghana earned a place at the expanded championship alongside six other African representatives, with the continent set to be represented by Algeria, Angola, Egypt, Liberia, Morocco and Nigeria.

The Ghana Football Association, in partnership with the National Amputee Football Association of Ghana and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, has reiterated its determination to ensure the team receives adequate preparation ahead of the global competition.

The football governing body also acknowledged the contribution of Gold Fields Ghana Limited, whose support is expected to boost the team’s readiness and overall campaign.

Heading into the tournament, the Black Challenge will aim to build on their strong continental performances and make a significant impact on the world stage as they carry Ghana’s hopes into the competition.

The tournament will feature qualified nations from Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas, including football powerhouses such as Brazil, Turkey, England and hosts Mexico.
