Asante Kotoko striker Kwame Opoku has disclosed that he turned down a lucrative offer from Medeama SC to fulfill his long-held dream of playing for the Porcupine Warriors.

The 24-year-old rejoined Kotoko during the January transfer window on a two-and-a-half-year deal after stints in Algeria and Morocco. He has since hit the ground running, scoring five goals in four games during the latter part of the first round of the Ghana Premier League.

Speaking to Asempa FM, Opoku revealed that Medeama SC President Moses Armah had tabled a financial package three times better than what Asante Kotoko proposed. Despite the tempting offer, the forward opted to return to Kotoko, citing his deep affection for the club.

“Medeama SC President, Moses Armah, offered me a deal three times better than what Asante Kotoko offered me, but I declined and decided to join Kotoko,” Opoku said. “Kotoko is the club that I have always wanted to play for, so I decided to make a return.”

Opoku’s decision to prioritize his passion for Asante Kotoko over monetary gain underscores his commitment to the club.
