Kotoko Coach Ogum Demands Better Finishing From Players
Asante Kotoko head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, has urged his players to be more clinical in front of goal despite their 1-0 victory over Eleven Wise in the MTN FA Cup Round of 16.
The Porcupine Warriors advanced to the quarter-finals after Elvis Kyei Baffour’s first-half strike secured a hard-fought win at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. However, Ogum believes his team needs to improve its efficiency in converting chances.
“Defensively, we looked very solid. Offensively, there is a lot of creativity there, but what is left is putting the ball in the back of the net,” Ogum said in his post-match reaction.
He expressed frustration over the missed opportunities, particularly in the opening stages of the match.
“Like you saw today, in the first half—especially in the first 15 minutes—we had obvious chances, but we kept missing them. What do I think we need to improve in our next games? It’s all about conversion. Once we improve on that, we will be fine,” he added.
With their FA Cup journey still alive, Kotoko will now shift focus to the Ghana Premier League, where they face a tough away fixture against FC Samartex in Samreboi.
