Interim Asante Kotoko head coach Prince Yaw Owusu has issued a heartfelt apology to supporters following the club’s crushing defeat to Medeama SC, conceding that their Ghana Premier League title hopes are now over.

Kotoko were dismantled 4-0 at the TnA Stadium, a result that saw them slip from fourth to sixth on the league table and effectively end their pursuit of the championship.

Addressing the media after the game, Owusu admitted the magnitude of the setback and acknowledged the disappointment felt by the club’s faithful.

“I want to apologise to the fans. It was a bad day at the office; it didn’t go the way we wanted it. Yes, I think this one is very deep. To come back and win this league is impossible,” Owusu said.

The statement represents a notable shift in stance from the interim coach, who had maintained optimism about Kotoko’s chances in recent weeks despite inconsistent performances.

However, the emphatic defeat in Tarkwa appears to have brought a sense of finality to their campaign, leaving the team with little option but to focus on finishing the season on a stronger note.

With the title race now beyond reach, Kotoko’s attention will turn to regrouping and restoring pride in their remaining fixtures.
