Charles Sampson Appointed Head Coach of Black Princesses

Charles Sampson has been officially named the new Head Coach of Ghana’s U-20 women’s national team, the Black Princesses.

He takes on the responsibility of guiding the team through the qualifiers for the 2025 FIFA Women’s U-20 World Cup.

Born on November 24, 1980, Sampson brings a wealth of experience as a former international footballer and a seasoned coach. His playing career saw him represent the Ghana U-20 national team and several clubs across Greece and Sweden.

Sampson began his professional journey with GHAPOHA FC in the Ghana Premier League before moving abroad. In Greece, he had successful stints with Kalamata FC, Apollon Kalamarias, OFI Crete, Panegialios, and Fostriras.

In 2004, he joined Swedish club Assyriska Föreningen. He later played for Bodens BK, IFK Luleå, Syrianska Botkyrka, and Afrikansk before transitioning to coaching.

Sampson’s coaching career began with Assyriska United Girls’ U15 team before he took charge of Telge United FC, a club in the Swedish Women’s League.

Before this appointment, Sampson served as an Assistant Coach for the Black Queens, Ghana’s senior women’s national team.

Joining Sampson on the technical bench are Fiifi Parker Hanson, Head Coach of Golden Kicks FC, who will serve as the second Assistant Coach, and Anita Wiredu-Mintah, who retains her role as Assistant Coach of the Black Princesses.
