Ghanaian weightlifter Marie Agba Hughes has outlined her competitive roadmap for 2025, emphasizing her commitment to participating in crucial events as she builds toward her ultimate dream—the 2028 Olympic Games in the USA.

In an interview on Sports Nite with Prof. E.K. Wallace on Asempa FM, Hughes stressed the importance of consistent competition to enhance her rankings and performance.

“I would like to attend all the competitions I’m required to because my goal is to go to the 2028 Olympics,” she stated. “Before that, I need to compete in many events to keep progressing and improve my numbers.”

The 2026 Commonwealth Games also factor into her long-term plan, with 2025 serving as a pivotal year in her qualification process.

“I need to attend qualifying events, perform my best, and secure a ranking that will ensure my place at the biggest stage,” she added.

Her determination reflects the relentless effort required to compete at the highest level, highlighting the sacrifices and dedication needed to achieve Olympic success.
