Hearts of Oak’s women’s team, Oaks FC, have clinched promotion to the 2025/26 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League after an emphatic 4-1 victory over Rootz Sistaz in the ongoing Division One League Regional Championship.

The win, their fourth in as many matches, ensured Oaks FC sealed their place in Ghana’s top-flight women’s football league with one game to spare. The team, coached by experienced tactician Mercy Tagoe, displayed dominance throughout the encounter, underlining their readiness for top-tier competition.

Fatima Ibrahim opened the scoring for the Phobia Ladies in the eighth minute with a composed finish, setting the tone for what would be a commanding performance. Nine minutes later, Victoria Yeboah doubled the advantage with a simple tap-in after a flowing team move.

Oaks FC maintained their attacking momentum and extended the lead in the 33rd minute through Amanda Hills, whose well-taken goal capped a brilliant first-half display. Although they missed a penalty just before halftime, the team went into the break with a commanding 3-0 lead.

Rootz Sistaz managed to pull one back early in the second half through Nuratu Iddrisu, but any hopes of a comeback were dashed when Seraphine Essenam converted from the spot to restore Oaks FC’s three-goal cushion.

Despite some late pressure, Rootz Sistaz were unable to mount a response, suffering their second consecutive defeat in the competition. Oaks FC, meanwhile, confirmed their place in the Southern Zone of the Women’s Premier League next season.

Prior to their latest victory, Oaks FC had already registered wins over Anlo Ladies, Essiam Socrates, and Sissamba Ladies, making them the only unbeaten side in the Regional Championship thus far.

Their final fixture against Samartex Ladies will now serve as a formality, as promotion has already been secured. Oaks FC’s flawless run reflects their ambition and quality, and they will now prepare to challenge the best sides in Ghanaian women’s football next season.
