Ibrahim Tanko Targets Hearts of Oak Victory Despite Medeama’s Title Triumph
Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko says his side remains determined to finish the season strongly when they face Hearts of Oak in their final Ghana Premier League fixture on Sunday.
Having already secured the 2025/26 league title, Medeama will travel to the Accra Sports Stadium with the pressure off, but Tanko insists his players are still focused on ending the campaign with another victory.
The newly crowned champions sealed the title with a game to spare and are now preparing for a difficult clash against the Phobians in Matchweek 34.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, Tanko acknowledged the challenge Hearts of Oak present tactically but stressed that Medeama would maintain their usual approach.
“Even when we played them here, we didn’t find it easy to beat them. It was a tactical game,” he told Medi TV.
Despite already clinching the championship, the former Black Stars assistant coach explained that his players remain motivated to collect maximum points in Accra.
“Now we have won the league, so we are going there with no pressure. We are going to play our normal game with the hope that we will get our three points,” he added.
Sunday’s clash at the Accra Sports Stadium is scheduled to kick off at 3:00 pm.
Following the fixture, Medeama will return to Tarkwa for their official coronation game against Basake Holy Stars at the TnA Stadium on May 27.
