Ghanaian winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has confirmed he will be fit and ready to rejoin Leicester City ahead of their pre-season preparations, following a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to injury.
The 20-year-old missed the latter part of the 2024/25 campaign after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Angola in Luanda. The setback ruled him out of crucial fixtures as the Foxes battled unsuccessfully to retain their Premier League status.
Despite the disappointment of relegation and injury, Issahaku remains upbeat and focused on returning stronger for the 2025/26 season in the English Championship.
“I have been working so hard. My rehab has been so good with the people, the physio, the management, and the players. Everyone has been so supportive of me. I’ll be ready before pre-season,” Issahaku told Leicester City’s media.
The former Sporting CP star, who joined Leicester last summer, made an instant impression in England’s top flight, registering an assist on his Premier League debut against Tottenham Hotspur. His electric pace and flair quickly made him one of the standout young performers, earning him a spot in the league’s top five dribblers before the injury setback.
“I can’t wait to be back on the field, running again, fighting for the badge as always,” he added, expressing his desire to contribute to Leicester’s push for an immediate return to the Premier League.
With his return on the horizon, Issahaku’s comeback will be a major boost for the Foxes as they aim to rebuild under their new campaign in the Skybet Championship.
