The second edition of the African AirBadminton Championship officially kicked off in vibrant fashion at the Laboma Beach Resort in Accra, with Ghana’s Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Kofi Adams, and other key stakeholders in attendance for the opening ceremony.

The event marks a significant milestone in Ghana’s efforts to elevate the profile of AirBadminton—a dynamic outdoor version of the traditional game—on the continental stage. This year’s championship has drawn top athletes from across Africa, competing for glory in the sand and sun.

The event is part of the broader Ghana Badminton Grand Slam series, which features five tournaments including Olympic and World Cup qualifiers. The series has been designed to unite athletes from over 78 nations in a 21-day showcase of elite badminton competition.

The championship, which runs from July 3 to July 6, will feature both singles and team events. Ghana’s national team is expected to put up a strong showing in front of the home crowd.

With the venue fully prepared and a festive atmosphere buzzing at Laboma Beach, the 2025 African AirBadminton Championship promises to deliver a thrilling celebration of sport, culture, and unity.
