Emmanuel Essiam features in FC Basel defeat to Grasshopper

Ghanaian midfielder, Emmanuel Essiam was in action for FC Basel in the Swiss Super League week three fixture against Grasshopper.

Essiam, an U-23 player for the Ghana national team made the trip to…. but could not return home with a positive result. After 90 minutes of the encounter, the visitors suffered a 3-1 defeat despite a good second half display.

Grasshopper took a first half double lead by scoring in the 7th and 16th minute respectively. The away side Basel through Arnau Comas reduced the deficit to 2-1 before the 20th minute mark yet suffered a 3-1 defeat from the first half session.

The former Berekum Chelsea man climbed off the bench to replace forward Anton Kade in the 46th minute but could not offer much to inspire the visitors for atleast a draw.

Essiam’s Basel due to the defeat is left 9th on the log with 3 points after three league matches. They will next face Lausanne in the Swiss Super League on August 13, 2023 at exactly 12:15 AM.
