GFA Presidential aspirants, George Akwesi Afriyie says Kurt Okraku is deceiving Congressmen to win next GFA elections with unthinkable promises.

The Ghana Football Association(GFA) President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku who has confirmed his stands on contesting next Presidential Elections, turned the 29th Ordinary Congress to campaign grounds in Kumasi, where he made several promises including giving GHC60,000 incentives with fuel and boots to Women’s Football teams.

An amount GHC80,000 was also promised for Premier league club as well as buses and boots.

According to him, GHC300,000 will be offered to referees for next season campaign with another GHC200,000 for Catch Them Young Referees development.

Kurt again promised that, Football boots will be supplied to Premier league teams, Division One League and Women’s football for the next three season’s.

Nevertheless, astute football administrator who is also vying for the Presidency George Afriyie says, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku is only making promises to get re-elected since its election year but truth be told, they’re all fake.

“Today’s Congress was just normal formalities, we had to follow. Its an annual thing, that every year we have Ordinary Congress.

“I know what matters to you people thus the promises”

Former Ghana Football Association vice-president George Afriyie arrives at the 29th GFA Ordinary Congress in Kumasi, KNUST

“Four years ago, this administration was ushered into office and when it was done there was manifesto, everyone said what he can do, publicly. I won’t mention many but I will give key points of Kurt manifesto.

“One, to provide football boots for all Division One, Premier and Women’s football. If you look at his manifesto, was captured. Last year as FA President, he shared those boots. Let me make it clear, the boots are not Kurt propose but its Puma who is a major sponsor of the Ghana Football Association, he brought the boots to be shared so it’s not Kurt own pocket money he used in purchasing these boots.

“So, the promise of Kurt providing boots has only happened once in his administration.

“Secondly, it was in his campaign promise that in four-years, when he wins we will play autonomous league. I leave it for the media to answer, whether it was possible. Because, that time when he was saying it we told him there was nothing like autonomous league.

“There can be a semi-autonomous league but autonomous league does not exist anywhere in the World. His 4-years has elapsed and we haven’t seen any autonomous league”

He added that, another promise that touched the heart of many was when he proclaimed to fix the fundamentals but ended up misplacing his priority.

“Again, so many promises where given and one that touched the heart of everybody which is fixing the fundamentals. Because, in building you will need to build on a solid platform to make it strong.

“So if Kurt says, he is fixing the fundamentals that would have being a good thing”

“Kurt in four-years has changed Black Stars coaches four times. So when I told you guys that, there is no time for “matr3 makwe” English translation (Try and Error), that is what he is doing. Keep changing managers at Black Stars, brought C.K Akonnor he failed, Milovan Rejevac, Otto Addo and now Chris Hughton”, Afriyie told the media at the Congress.

“In four-years, you can’t find your feet in your number brand which is the Black Stars.

“Same thing to the youth team U-17, he has changed four coaches within four years. So how, do you tackle the fundamentals when you keep changing managers at that level.

“It’s simple, doing try and error”

On the fact that, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku made numerous promises at the Congress, he says, it doesn’t scare nor panic anyone because they’re fake promises.

“When we gave him 4-years, what has he fulfilled for us in his manifesto?

“Then you give FAKE promise of giving buses to clubs. Just say that and go because its an election year. All that, he said are fake promises considering what he couldn’t do in his four-year period.

“Assuming, he mentioned names of clubs to say, before we begin next season campaign I will give you buses, fair enough but with all what he said, oh NO they’re fake promises”.
