Head coach Charles Sampson has expressed satisfaction with the conditions in Uganda as Ghana’s Black Princesses intensify preparations for their crucial FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier.

The Black Princesses held their first training session at the YES Centre Sports Arena after arriving in Kampala for the decisive second-leg encounter.

Training focused on endurance, ball retention, defensive organisation, wing play and shooting drills as the technical team began fine-tuning the squad ahead of Saturday’s match.

Ghana travel into the fixture with confidence after securing victory in the first leg in Accra, giving the team an advantage ahead of the return encounter.

Speaking after the session, Sampson admitted he had concerns about the weather and altitude before arriving in Uganda but was relieved by the conditions the team encountered.

“The weather has been good it is almost like in Ghana I was expecting a weather that maybe we will be having difficulty in breathing I have not experience it yet. I was told of altitude issues so I hope it stays like this.

“Because of the travel we couldn’t train yesterday so it was good we can do a shakeup today. The pitch we got was an astroturf very tough so we couldn’t push much but we are glad with what we were able to do and hopefully we can train in the arena that we are going to play on Saturday and then we get conversant with it,” he told GFA Communications.

The Black Princesses will take on Uganda at the FUFA Stadium on Saturday, May 9, with a place at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup at stake.
