Black Satellites to Face Semper Fi in Final Test Before WAFU B U-20 Championship
Ghana’s Black Satellites will conclude their preparations for the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship with a friendly match against Division One League side Semper Fi on Thursday, July 23, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The match, scheduled to kick off at 14:00 GMT, will serve as the team’s final competitive exercise before departing for Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire, where they will compete in the regional tournament under head coach Maxwell Konadu.
After several weeks of rigorous training, the Black Satellites are entering the final stage of their build-up, with the technical team using the friendly to fine-tune tactical plans and evaluate the squad ahead of the competition.
The players continued their preparations on Wednesday with an intense training session at the University of Ghana Stadium Annex B, where emphasis was placed on tactical discipline, team chemistry and match sharpness.
Konadu is expected to use Thursday’s fixture to assess player combinations and make final decisions before naming the squad that will travel to Côte d’Ivoire.
The encounter against Semper Fi provides the Black Satellites with an opportunity to test themselves in a match environment as they seek to enter the tournament with confidence and momentum.
Ghana have been drawn in a challenging Group B, where they will begin their campaign against long-time rivals Nigeria before taking on Burkina Faso and Togo in their remaining group fixtures.
The stakes are high, with the WAFU B U-20 Championship also serving as the qualifying tournament for the 2027 TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
