Carlos Queiroz sends rallying message as Black Stars step up World Cup preparations
Carlos Queiroz has delivered a passionate message to Ghana supporters, promising that the Black Stars will battle for every moment when the 2026 FIFA World Cup gets underway next month.
The experienced Portuguese tactician is preparing to lead Ghana to a fifth appearance at football’s biggest tournament following previous participations in 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2022.
Queiroz is currently in the United Kingdom with members of the squad as preparations continue ahead of the international friendly against Wales on June 2 in Cardiff.
The warm-up fixture forms part of Ghana’s final build-up before the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico, where the Black Stars have been drawn alongside England, Croatia and Panama in Group L.
With anticipation growing over the final squad selection, Queiroz used social media to outline the mentality he expects from his players heading into the tournament.
“To All Black Stars Football Fans,” the coach wrote at the start of his statement.
“Today, with 24 days remaining before our first World Cup challenge, we begin what many may call a Mission (Im)possible.”
The former Real Madrid manager stressed that commitment, discipline and sacrifice would be essential if Ghana are to meet the expectations of supporters around the world.
“We know the price that must be paid — sacrifice, discipline, relentless effort, and total dedication — if we are to honour the dreams and expectations of the people of Ghana,” he stated.
Queiroz also challenged his team to embrace a unique mentality and fight collectively for the country’s pride on the global stage.
“If our Dream is to make the difference at the end, we have to start by being different at the beginning.
“And when the mission is to serve the pride, prestige, and football soul of Ghana, pain becomes a privilege, sacrifice becomes duty, and commitment becomes our identity.”
The veteran coach concluded his message with a strong call for unity ahead of the tournament.
“We are ready to fight together for every ball, every moment, for our dream.
“One Team. 33 million hearts. One heartbeat.
“The journey starts now. Enjoy it!”
