Head coach Carlos Queiroz has named a 23-man squad for Ghana’s upcoming international friendly against Mexico, combining established names with emerging talent as preparations intensify.

The selection reflects a deliberate mix of players from Europe and the Ghana Premier League, alongside a number of U-23 prospects being assessed ahead of Olympic Games qualifiers.

Among the standout inclusions is Majeed Ashimeru, who returns to the national setup after a lengthy spell out due to a muscle injury that restricted his involvement at both club and international level. Forward Felix Afena-Gyan also makes a comeback, having last featured for Ghana in May last year during a Unity Cup fixture against Trinidad and Tobago in London.

The squad further includes promising young talents such as Abdul Aziz Issah of Barcelona B, Ebenezer Annan of AS Saint-Étienne, Ibrahim Osman of Birmingham City, and Paul Reverson of Ajax.

From the domestic front, Salim Adams—a key figure for league leaders Medeama SC—heads a group of home-based players that also features Ebenezer Abban of Heart of Lions, Ebenezer Adade of Dreams FC, and Razak Simpson, captain of Nations FC.

The friendly is scheduled for May 22, 2026, with the Black Stars set to travel to Mexico as part of their build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The fixture will offer Queiroz a valuable opportunity to assess squad depth, test combinations, and integrate emerging players into the senior setup ahead of a demanding international calendar.
