Bechem United are delighted to be back in action following the resumption of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) after a five-week suspension due to security concerns.

The league was put on hold following the tragic death of Asante Kotoko supporter, Francis Frimpong Pooley, who was fatally stabbed during Kotoko’s Week 19 fixture against Nsoatreman FC at the Nana Koromansah II Park.

With Pooley laid to rest on Thursday, March 6, at Heroes Park in Kumasi, domestic football has officially resumed, with Bechem United set to take on Medeama SC at the TNA Park in Tarkwa this weekend.

Speaking ahead of their return to action, Bechem United Assistant Coach Seth Osei expressed his satisfaction at getting back to work, while emphasizing the club’s readiness for the league’s resumption.

“The feeling [of resumption] is very good. It is a job we’ve chosen to do. What happened will not be entertained,” Osei told the club’s media.

He further highlighted the team’s preparedness ahead of their clash against Medeama.

“Based on our training sessions, I think it was good, and we hope to continue. Then we decide on the plan and strategy [for the clash against Medeama SC].”

Meanwhile, the GFA has introduced newly enhanced matchday safety and security protocols aimed at preventing further incidents of hooliganism.
