Ghana U-20 head coach Desmond Ofei has pledged that his team will secure all three points in their next game against Benin in the ongoing 2025 WAFU Zone B Boys Cup.

His comments follow Ghana’s 1-1 draw with Nigeria in their opening Group B fixture on Thursday, July 10, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.

The Black Satellites opened the scoring in the first half through Aziz Musibau and looked on course for victory. However, Nigeria drew level in the 83rd minute when Abdullahi Muhammed headed home from a corner, denying Ghana the perfect start to the tournament.

The result leaves Ghana with a single point heading into their final group fixture, making the upcoming clash against Benin a must-win in their quest to reach the knockout stage.

Reflecting on the team’s performance, Coach Ofei acknowledged the need for improvement and called for quick development from his players.

“We did as well, we lacked a bit of maturity at this level to see a game like this through, we will learn, we will improve and play against Benin and we will make sure that we will get the three points,” he said.

Ghana will return to action on July 16 to face Benin, who play Nigeria on July 13. The outcome of both matches will be decisive in determining the group’s qualifiers for the semi-finals.
