Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has called on the club’s supporters to exercise patience as the Ghana Premier League (GPL) resumes after a month-long suspension.

The league was put on hold following the tragic death of Francis Frimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley, during Asante Kotoko’s Week 19 match against Nsoatreman FC at the Nana Kronmansah Park II. With the competition now set to return, Hearts of Oak will take on Young Apostles in a Matchday 23 fixture at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Saturday, March 9, with kickoff scheduled for 18:00 GMT.

Speaking ahead of the highly anticipated game, Asare acknowledged the passion of the club’s fans and urged them to show patience and unwavering support as the team pushes for positive results.

“The love they show us during games and the way they voice out their frustrations is very commendable,” Asare told Hearts TV.

He also emphasized that while their expectations are understandable, football is unpredictable, and patience will be key to helping the team succeed.

“I’ll urge them to be patient with the team if they have issues with us because football is full of mistakes. You don’t always get the results you expect. The way they express their grievances shows they want good results, which is great, but they must also be patient.”

As Hearts of Oak look to restart their campaign on a strong note, Asare is determined to help his side secure all three points against Young Apostles.

“We have to take our games seriously so that, in the end, on Saturday, we can achieve the needed results. Whatever we need to do to get the needed results, we must make sure we do them to bring joy to all,” he added.

The Phobians currently sit fourth on the GPL table with 33 points and will be looking to climb higher with a win when the league resumes this weekend.
