Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has made it clear that his side has not abandoned its Ghana Premier League ambitions, even with an eight-point deficit separating them from leaders Medeama SC.

After 20 matches, the Porcupine Warriors sit second on the table, watching Medeama set the pace on 43 points. Despite the gap, Zito believes the race is far from decided and insists his players remain fully committed to the title push.

“It’s a marathon race. Some teams can start well, but there may be moments when the gap widens, and people want to give up. But for me, I don’t give up until it ends. We are still fighting for the title,” the Kotoko coach said.

Zito urged his squad to show mental strength, stressing that setbacks are part of both football and everyday life.

“Football is about moments. There are times when things go well and times when they don’t. Just like life, when things are not going well, you don’t sit down and cry. You fight hard to achieve your target. We are not giving up—we are still fighting,” he added.

Kotoko now turn their focus to Matchday 21, where they travel to the Kpando Sports Stadium to face Heart of Lions on Saturday, January 31, in a fixture that could prove crucial as the title race intensifies.
