Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has urged his players and supporters to move forward following the departure of star striker Albert Amoah, who recently completed a big-money transfer to Libyan powerhouse Al Ahly Benghazi.

Amoah’s exit last week came as a blow to the Porcupine Warriors, with the forward having been one of the team’s standout performers in recent seasons. His departure leaves a significant gap in Kotoko’s attacking setup as they continue their campaign in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League.

However, speaking ahead of Kotoko’s upcoming clash against Karela United, Coach Zito insisted that the club cannot dwell on the loss but must instead focus on building a stronger, more collective unit.

“It’s all about attitude. Definitely, he is gone. There is no need to continue crying. We won’t get him back, so we are preparing the other players to take over,” Zito told AKSC Media.

The veteran coach further challenged his remaining forwards to rise to the occasion and seize the opportunity to prove their worth.

“It’s up to the players to also prove that they deserve to be there. We must continue with what we have to get what we want,” he added.

Zito’s comments come as Kotoko look to maintain momentum in the league despite recent squad adjustments. The Porcupine Warriors have shown glimpses of promise but will need greater consistency if they are to challenge for the title.

Asante Kotoko will host Karela United at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday, November 2, with kickoff set for 3:00 p.m. Fans will be eager to see how the team responds in their first major test since Amoah’s departure.
