Nana Sarfo Oduro, a member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council, has called for  the need to shift attention from past achievements and focus on rebuilding the country’s football structure.

Oduro’s comments come at a time when Ghanaian football is at a crossroads. With increased scrutiny on the performance of national teams, his call for rebuilding reflects a growing realization that sustainable success requires a long-term commitment to development.

Speaking about the challenges facing the Black Stars and other national teams, Oduro stressed the importance of patience and long-term planning.

“Ghana, we are living in the past glories,” Oduro remarked. “We need to be thinking of rebuilding. We need to forget about trophies and glories while rebuilding. We want quick results, but that approach is not sustainable.” He told Asempa FM.

The Black Stars, once a dominant force in African football, have struggled in recent years to replicate their past successes. Oduro believes in creating a cohesive football development plan.

“We need to give ourselves time and rebuild,” Oduro added. “Quick fixes will not solve our problems. It’s about creating a solid foundation for future success.”

The Black Stars will play their next game in March against Chad and Madagascar in the World Cup qualifiers.
