Samartex Appoint Nana Kweku Agyemang as New Head Coach
FC Samartex 1996 have officially named Nana Kweku Agyemang as the club’s new head coach ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League campaign, ushering in a new era as the Timber Giants seek to re-establish themselves among the country’s top sides.
The announcement comes as Samartex intensify preparations for the upcoming season, with Agyemang taking over from Christopher Ennin, who departed the club at the end of the 2025/26 campaign.
The former Vision FC manager arrives in Samreboi with an impressive reputation after earning widespread recognition for his work in the Ghana Premier League.
During his time at Vision FC, Agyemang built a reputation as one of the league’s brightest young coaches, combining tactical discipline with a strong emphasis on player development and team organisation.
His most notable achievement came last season when he transformed Vision FC’s fortunes after taking charge of a side battling near the foot of the table. Under his leadership, the club produced a remarkable turnaround that secured their Premier League survival through a string of determined and organised performances.
Samartex will now be hoping the coach can bring the same level of impact as they target a return to competing at the top end of the league table.
The club believes his appointment reflects its ambition to build a squad capable of challenging consistently for domestic honours.
His early appointment also gives him sufficient time to work closely with the club’s technical department on recruitment and preparations ahead of the opening weekend.
The 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season is scheduled to begin between September 4 and 7, with Samartex aiming to make a strong start under their new manager before the campaign concludes at the end of May 2027.
