Ghanaian international Jordan Ayew provided a late consolation goal for the Leicester City but it wasn’t enough to stop the Chelsea from taking all three points.
The game started brightly for Chelsea, who opened the scoring in the 15th minute. Senegalese forward Nicolas Jackson continued his fine form, netting his fifth goal in four consecutive away matches.
Chelsea doubled their lead in the 29th minute when Fernandez reacted quickly to a rebound. After Hermansen parried Jackson’s initial effort, Fernandez headed home from close range, giving the visitors a commanding advantage.
Leicester struggled to break down Chelsea’s disciplined defense but found a glimmer of hope late in the game.
Ghanaian forward Jordan Ayew, who made a swift recovery from injury, came off the bench in the 71st minute to replace Wilfried Ndidi. In added time, Ayew calmly converted a penalty in the 95th minute after Romeo Lavia fouled Bobby de Cordova-Reid in the box.
Ayew has now scored two goals in the English Premier League for the Foxes this season.
