Medeama SC have been crowned champions of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League after an explosive 5-2 victory over Heart of Lions at the TnA Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Tarkwa-based club sealed the league title with one match still remaining after nearest rivals Bibiani Gold Stars FC slipped to defeat against Dreams FC earlier in the day.

Knowing that a win coupled with dropped points from Gold Stars would mathematically secure the championship, Medeama delivered a ruthless attacking performance in front of their home supporters despite difficult weather conditions that delayed kickoff.

Striker Kelvin Obeng set the tone for the afternoon when he opened the scoring in the 18th minute before grabbing his second later in the first half to hand the hosts full control of the contest.

Heart of Lions attempted to fight back after reducing the deficit, but Medeama continued to dominate proceedings with clinical finishing in the final third.

Derrick Fordjour emerged as another key figure for the champions, netting twice after the break, while Prince Owusu added a fifth goal to cap a memorable afternoon in Tarkwa.

The visitors managed to score twice, including a late penalty, but the result never seriously threatened Medeama’s march toward the title.

The triumph marks Medeama’s second league championship in the space of three seasons following their maiden title success in 2023.

With the title secured, Medeama will now turn attention toward representing Ghana in next season’s CAF Champions League as they seek to continue their rise on the continental stage.
