André Ayew is on the verge of making a return to the Black Stars as the 2026 World Cup qualifiers resume in March.

The 35-year-old is poised for a comeback after a nearly year-long absence, barring any last-minute changes.

Ayew has been in stellar form for French Ligue 1 side Le Havre, delivering standout performances despite the team’s struggles in the league. The former Swansea City and Marseille forward has carried his momentum into 2025, recently scoring his second goal of the season, which has reignited calls for his inclusion in the national team.

The Black Stars captain last featured in international friendlies against Nigeria and Uganda in March 2024. However, Ghana coach Otto Addo controversially excluded Ayew from subsequent squads, including the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Reports suggest that some influential figures within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are lobbying for Ayew’s reinstatement to the national team, emphasizing his leadership and experience as vital assets for Ghana’s World Cup qualification campaign.

With the Black Stars set to embark on a critical phase of the qualifiers, Ayew’s return could provide much-needed experience and firepower.
