Kotoko Coach Prince Owusu Savours First Victory
Asante Kotoko interim head coach Yaw Prince Owusu has hailed his side’s response to recent pressure after they secured an important away victory over Young Apostles FC in the Ghana Premier League.
The Porcupine Warriors travelled to Wenchi looking to recover from their narrow defeat to Hearts of Oak in the Super Clash, and delivered a composed performance that earned them maximum points. Goals from Johnson Oppong Owusu and Samba O’Neil sealed the win and lifted spirits within the camp.
For Yaw Prince Owusu, the result marked a special moment in his early spell as head coach, and he admitted it carried personal significance.
“It means a lot to me. This is my first win, and it makes people recognise what I can do,” he said after the match.
The coach also revealed that the team felt the weight of expectations going into the fixture but praised his players for responding positively to his message.
“Yes, there was pressure. The players felt it themselves. So we spoke to them and asked them to put the pressure behind them and focus on how we wanted to play. They listened, and it worked perfectly for us today. Once we scored the two goals, everything became clear in our performance.”
The victory offers Kotoko a timely boost as they look to stay in the title race, with Owusu hoping the result can spark a strong run in the remaining matches of the season.
