Interim head coach Prince Yaw Owusu has revealed that Asante Kotoko will adopt a counter-attacking approach in their crucial Ghana Premier League encounter against Medeama SC.

The Porcupine Warriors head into Sunday’s fixture under pressure following a 2-1 defeat to FC Samartex, a result that dented their title push and left them trailing league leaders Bibiani Gold Stars. Medeama, meanwhile, are also seeking a response after slipping from the top spot, setting the stage for a fiercely contested showdown.

Speaking ahead of the clash, Owusu made his tactical intentions clear, indicating that his side will look to capitalize on spaces left by the hosts.

“We are just going to counter-attack and see if we can bring them down,” he said.

The coach also disclosed that he has held discussions with his players in the aftermath of their recent setback, expressing confidence in their readiness to bounce back.

“I have spoken to them… the boys are ready to fight back and make sure they bring some life into the supporters.”

Despite the disappointment of the Samartex loss, Owusu urged his squad to maintain focus and not allow the defeat to linger.

“In life, things happen; when it happens, you don’t have to let it keep you down.”

With both sides eager to revive their title ambitions, the encounter at the TNA Stadium is expected to be tightly contested. Kotoko will be banking on their counter-attacking plan to unsettle Medeama and secure a vital result on the road.
