Karim Zito Hails Kotoko Players’ Fighting Spirit After Win Over Hearts of Oak
Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has lauded his players for their resilience and determination following their crucial 1-0 victory over Accra Hearts of Oak in Sunday’s fiercely contested Super Clash at the Accra Sports Stadium.
A first-half strike from Guinean forward Morifing Donzo proved enough to separate the two sides in what was a tightly fought encounter between Ghana’s most successful clubs.
Speaking after the match, Karim Zito praised his side’s mentality, noting that their strong desire to win played a decisive role in securing the three points away from home.
“Everybody knows Hearts and Kotoko, how difficult it is. You see the supporters today, everybody is happy. It was very difficult, but the mindset was there to win this game because winning this game would help us towards our objective,” he said.
The Kotoko boss admitted the game lived up to its billing, crediting both sides for their effort but emphasizing that his team’s discipline and mental strength made the difference on the day.
The win keeps Kotoko unbeaten in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League, with the Porcupine Warriors maintaining their impressive form under Zito.
The Reds will now shift focus to their next league fixture, where they aim to extend their unbeaten run and strengthen their charge for the Ghana Premier League crown.
