Frimpong Manso Overjoyed After Guiding GoldStars to Historic Premier League Title
Bibiani GoldStars head coach Frimpong Manso was full of emotion and pride after steering the club to their first-ever Ghana Premier League title with a commanding 4-0 win over Accra Lions on the final day of the 2024/25 season.
The dominant performance at the Duns Park on Sunday, June 8, secured GoldStars’ place at the summit of the league table with 63 points—three more than second-placed Nations FC. While Nations await the Ghana Football Association’s ruling on their truncated Week 33 match against Basake Holy Stars, GoldStars’ emphatic win has all but cemented their historic triumph.
Manso, who took over following the untimely passing of former head coach Michael Osei, expressed his delight in a post-match interview, emphasizing the significance of the achievement to the people of Bibiani.
“You can see everybody is very happy. The whole town is happy and so I am overwhelmed,” he said. “For me, the joy of the town makes me so happy.”
The former Tano Bofoakwa tactician’s appointment proved to be a turning point for the Miners, who mounted a strong title charge in the second half of the season to ultimately clinch the league crown. Manso’s leadership, tactical discipline, and ability to inspire his players were crucial to the club’s successful run.
GoldStars, who only earned promotion to the topflight four years ago, have now achieved one of the most remarkable rises in Ghanaian football history. Their title win not only brings joy to the town of Bibiani but also earns them a spot in the 2025/26 CAF Champions League—marking their debut appearance on the continental stage.
