Daniel-Kofi Kyereh has expressed appreciation to SC Freiburg after officially confirming his departure from the Bundesliga outfit at the end of the season.

The Ghana international is set to leave the club as a free agent on June 30, bringing an emotional end to a four-year stay in Freiburg.

Kyereh’s journey in Germany was largely overshadowed by a devastating ACL injury suffered in 2023, an injury that kept him out of first-team football for an extended period and significantly affected his progress at the club.

Despite the difficult setbacks, the 30-year-old says he leaves with positive memories and deep gratitude for the support shown to him during his recovery.

“I am happy about my time in Freiburg. The team has always supported me, and recently I was taken aback by how the lads in the U23s welcomed me,” Kyereh said during his farewell ceremony.

The midfielder gradually returned to action through Freiburg’s reserve side and produced encouraging performances as he rebuilt his fitness.

He contributed four goals in eight appearances for the U23 team, showing glimpses of the creativity and attacking quality that made him one of Ghana’s most exciting midfielders before his injury troubles.

Kyereh is now expected to pursue a new challenge where he can secure regular playing time and continue rebuilding his career ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The former FC St. Pauli star remains eager to fight his way back into the Black Stars setup after spending several years away from international football due to injury.
