Ghana men’s national 4x100m relay team produced a commanding display to qualify automatically for the final of the men’s 4x100m relay at the ongoing African Senior Athletics Championships after winning Heat 2 in front of an enthusiastic home crowd in Accra.

Competing at the University of Ghana Stadium, the Ghanaian quartet impressed with explosive pace and flawless baton exchanges to cross the finish line first in a time of 38.69 seconds.

Their performance secured a place in the final and further strengthened optimism among supporters that Ghana could challenge for gold in one of the championship’s most anticipated events.

The relay team looked sharp throughout the race, maintaining rhythm and composure while comfortably finishing ahead of the competition in their heat.

Ghana arrived at the championships with growing momentum after an encouraging showing at the World Athletics Relays in Gaborone, where the team successfully booked qualification for the 2027 World Athletics Championships.

That recent success has increased belief within the camp and highlighted Ghana’s emergence as one of Africa’s strongest sprint relay nations.

The squad continues to benefit from the experience and leadership of top sprinters such as Joseph Paul Amoah and Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, both of whom remain central figures in the country’s relay ambitions.

Following Ghana’s medal-winning performances earlier in the championships, attention has now shifted strongly toward the relay final, with many supporters viewing the event as a major opportunity for the host nation to secure gold on home soil.

However, Ghana will face stiff competition from relay powerhouses including Nigeria, Botswana and South Africa, all of whom are expected to challenge for podium places.

With confidence high and home support behind them, the Ghanaian quartet will now look to deliver another strong performance in the final as they chase a memorable result in Accra.
