Exclusive: Black Stars Technical Team Unpaid for Six Months
The Black Stars technical team has gone without salaries for the past six months, with debts carried over from the previous administration, according to sources close to the team.
Our source indicates that the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, under Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif, left behind three months of unpaid wages before the new administration also added another three months of arrears.
Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, who departed for Germany yesterday after Ghana’s win over Chad and Madagascar in the World Cup qualifiers is reportedly displeased with the situation. The failure to settle outstanding payments has raised concerns among the coaching staff.
Additionally, the new technical additions, including technical advisor Winfried Schäfer, have yet to receive their wages since joining the setup.
A source close to the team told Nkrataasem.com that the issue is causing growing frustration within the camp, as the unpaid wages may impact morale and commitment levels among the coaching staff.
However, with Ghana aiming to secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, resolving the matter could be crucial in maintaining stability within the Black Stars’ technical department.
