Former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), George Afriyie, has strongly voiced his opposition to any plans by GFA President Kurt Okraku to seek a third term in office.

Afriyie’s comments come amidst growing discussions within the football community about potential amendments to the GFA’s statutes that could pave the way for Okraku to contest for a third term.

Speaking in a recent interview, Afriyie categorically stated that he would take decisive steps to prevent Okraku from pursuing an extended tenure.

“Kurt Okraku should forget about the amendment to go for a third term,” Afriyie declared. “I will personally write a petition to the government of Ghana to stop him from going for a third term.” He told Asempa FM.

Afriyie, a prominent figure in Ghanaian football administration, emphasized his commitment to engaging with key stakeholders to garner support for his stance.

“I will approach every club owner to explain to them why Kurt Okraku can’t go for a third term,” he added.
