Attram De Visser Crowned Inaugural Democracy Youth Cup Champions
Attram De Visser Soccer Academy lifted the maiden Democracy Youth Cup title after defeating JP FC 3-1 in an exciting final played at the La McDan AstroTurf Town Park on Thursday.
The academy completed an outstanding run in the tournament with another impressive attacking performance, securing the championship trophy and the GHS10,000 winner’s prize in the youth competition designed to promote football development and civic responsibility among young players.
Attram De Visser entered the final in strong form after overcoming Charity Stars 2-0 in the semi-finals. Their opponents, JP FC, had earlier booked their place in the final following a convincing 3-1 victory over Stari Third World.
The final attracted football supporters, coaches, scouts and invited dignitaries who gathered to witness the conclusion of the tournament, which forms part of the broader Democracy Cup initiative.
Across the competition, participating teams showcased exciting football, discipline and several promising young talents during both the group stage and knockout rounds.
The Democracy Youth Cup was officially launched earlier in the week by Bernard Ahiafor, the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, who performed the ceremonial kick-off at the opening ceremony.
Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, Clerk to Parliament, also addressed participants and drew comparisons between football and democracy, emphasizing the values of teamwork, discipline and unity.
Several respected football figures monitored players throughout the competition as part of an attached scouting programme. Former Sunderland AFC defender Gary Bennett attended the tournament alongside former Ghana national football team defender Yaw Acheampong and veteran coach J. E. Sarpong.
