Frimpong Manso Questions Officiating After Nations FC Defeat to Kotoko
Frimpong Manso has voiced strong concerns over refereeing decisions following Nations FC’s heavy 3-0 loss to Asante Kotoko in their Ghana Premier League Week 26 encounter.
The Abrankese-based side endured a difficult afternoon at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, where Kotoko produced a clinical display to secure all three points. Albert Amoah opened the scoring in the first half, before late penalties converted by Samba O’Neil and Morifing Donzo sealed the emphatic win.
Despite acknowledging his team’s shortcomings, Manso was left frustrated by what he believes was a key moment overlooked by the match officials.
“In the final ten minutes, the referee was bold to award two penalties to Asante Kotoko, yet overlooked a clear one for us. We lost 3-0, but the closing stages got away from us as we pushed forward in search of a goal. Our desire to score left us exposed, with too many players committing to attack. We accept the defeat, but the circumstances are difficult to ignore,” he said.
Manso admitted his side’s attacking approach late in the game contributed to the margin of defeat, as they left gaps at the back while chasing a way back into the contest.
The result sees Kotoko climb to third place on the league table, keeping their title ambitions alive, while Nations FC slip to 11th after another setback in their campaign.
Both sides now turn their attention to their next fixtures, with Kotoko set to face Aduana FC, while Nations FC prepare to host Berekum Chelsea as they look to bounce back.
