Head coach of Hearts of Oak, Aboubakar Ouattara, has heaped praise on his players following their hard-fought 1-0 victory over FC Samartex on the final day of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.

The Phobians concluded their campaign with a crucial win at the Accra Sports Stadium, courtesy of a second-half strike from defender Konadu Yiadom. The result extended Hearts’ unbeaten run to six games and capped off a strong finish to what had been a turbulent season.

Speaking to the media after the match, Coach Ouattara commended the resilience and commitment of his squad, particularly in overcoming the quality of the reigning champions.

“This is one of the nicest and best teams in the Premier League. Don’t forget they are the champions from last season. We managed to get the three points, but it was not easy,” Ouattara said. “We even had injured players, but we forced them to play. We got the three points and next season we go again.”

Despite the morale-boosting win, Hearts of Oak narrowly missed out on a top-four finish. The Accra-based giants ended the season with 58 points—level with rivals Asante Kotoko.

With a full pre-season and expected reinforcements ahead, Hearts of Oak are aiming to build on their strong finish and challenge more consistently for the title in the 2025/26 campaign.
