“Essien Paid for My Coaching Courses; No Family Member Could Do What He Did for Me” – Bismark Kobby Mensah
Ghanaian coach Bismark Kobby Mensah has spoken warmly about his long-standing relationship with former Black Stars legend Michael Essien, praising the midfielder’s humility and generosity.
Bismark Mensah and Micahel Essien played for the Black Starlets in few tournaments; raising the flag of Ghana high.
In an interview, Mensah revealed that their bond dates back to their secondary school days and continued as they represented Ghana together in the Black Starlets youth team.
“Michael Essien has been a long-time friend from my secondary school days. We also played together for Ghana with the Black Starlets team,” Mensah shared on Asempa FM
He went on to express gratitude for Essien’s pivotal role in his personal and professional development.
“If I have any property today, I will tell you straight away that it is Michael Essien who has helped me. He was very generous to me and opened his door for me. I have never seen a rich person who is so humble like Michael Essien,” he added.
Mensah further highlighted Essien’s significant financial support, which enabled him to pursue coaching courses in Europe.
“He paid a lot of money for me to pursue some of my coaching courses in England. I don’t think any family member will do what Essien has done for me.” Mensah said, emphasizing the former Chelsea star’s willingness to invest in the success of others.
