Asante Kotoko SC had their first exercise after resuming pre-season two weeks ago, facing lower-tier club Kharis Academy in a friendly on Sunday, August 27, 2023.

With the club expected, to give the fans something exciting from this encounter ended harvesting a draw after full duration at Beposo, where Kotoko have shifted camp to. Head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum who has been reappointed and handed a long-term contract, could only settle for a 1-1 draw in his first preseason friendly.

Eric Zeze who was one of Asante Kotoko SC best players last season, scored the top-flight side goal before the lower-tier club Kharis Academy held unto it for a positive result.

Ebenezer Kobia scored for Kharis FC who exhibited brilliant individual skills and team cohesion.

As this clash marks the Porcupine Warriors first preseason friendly, Ogum is expected to set-up his team very strong enough and capable of competing with the rest.

Meanwhile, they will again play another lower-tier club Cornerstone FC as part of preparations for the 2023-24 league season.

Last season, the Reds failed to defend the league title which they won in 2021/22 after finishing 4th on the log.
