Ghana forward Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah has underlined the unity and high morale within the Black Queens camp as the team prepares for a crucial Group C encounter against Tanzania at the ongoing 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

Set to make her third appearance in the tournament, the London City Lioness attacker has impressed in Ghana’s opening matches against South Africa and Mali. Despite securing just one point from the two fixtures, the Black Queens remain in contention for a quarterfinal berth and must win their final group game to keep that hope alive.

Speaking ahead of the showdown, Boye-Hlorkah, a former player of English clubs Everton and Aston Villa, credited the team’s spirit and belief as key motivators.

“We still have the positivity, and we believe in ourselves. We’ve just got to go out and show it,” she said.

Playing in her first WAFCON, the versatile attacker acknowledged the physical demands of the competition but expressed confidence in her ability to rise to the occasion.

“I’m taking it in stride. I feel the confidence from my teammates and coaches. I’m trying to make myself, my family, and Ghana proud.”

Ghana’s squad features a healthy mix of experienced names and emerging talents, a dynamic that Boye-Hlorkah believes enhances their collective strength.

“We know how important this game is, and we know what it’s going to take,” she added. “The pressure isn’t pressure; it’s a privilege.”

With a place in the quarterfinals at stake, the Black Queens are set for a must-win contest on Monday, July 14, 2025, against Tanzania at the Berkane Municipal Stadium. Kick-off is at 19:00 GMT. A win will secure Ghana’s progression to the next stage and preserve their ambition of continental success.
