The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially granted approval to Asante Kotoko to travel to South Africa for an international friendly encounter against South African giants Kaizer Chiefs.

The much-anticipated fixture is scheduled for Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. The match will form part of the Toyota Cup series and is expected to draw significant attention from fans of both clubs across the continent.

Crucially, the friendly will serve as a high-level preparatory exercise for the upcoming 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup, with both Asante Kotoko and Kaizer Chiefs set to feature in the prestigious continental competition.

Kotoko head into the fixture riding high on recent domestic success, having edged arch-rivals Hearts of Oak to clinch the 2025 President’s Cup. That triumph followed their earlier FA Cup victory, rounding off an impressive season for the Porcupine Warriors.

In confirming the development, the GFA expressed its full support for the international engagement and extended its best wishes to Kotoko as they represent Ghana on foreign soil.

The match is expected to offer valuable competitive exposure to the team, while also strengthening the relationship between the two storied clubs and providing a showcase of African club football excellence.
