Karim Zito Concerned Over Kwame Poku’s Absence Ahead of Kwara United Clash
Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has conceded that the absence of striker Kwame Poku will significantly impact his side as they prepare to face Kwara United in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round.
Poku, a key figure in Kotoko’s attack, has been ruled out through injury and will miss both legs of the encounter against the Nigerian club. His unavailability, according to the coach, has forced a rethink of his tactical setup for the tie.
“Seriously, it has also turned down my first plan for the game against Kwara. You always have to use what you have to go for what you want. Seriously, Poku’s absence will affect me. There is a plus about it, and there is a negative about it. It has helped me to think deeply,” Karim Zito said in a pre-match interview.
The Porcupine Warriors will host Kwara United in the first leg on Sunday, September 21, at the Accra Sports Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 3:00 pm.
Kotoko will be hoping to maximize home advantage before traveling to Nigeria for the decisive return fixture.
