Ghana will face a challenging route to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations after being drawn in Group C of the qualification series.

The Black Stars will battle regional rivals Ivory Coast national football team alongside Gambia national football team and Somalia national football team for a place at the continental showpiece.

The tournament will be jointly staged by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

For Ghana, the qualifiers represent an opportunity to restore confidence after a disappointing run in recent AFCON campaigns. The four-time African champions failed to win a single match during the qualification series for the 2025 edition in Morocco, a setback that ultimately led to their absence from the tournament.

Before missing out on the previous edition, the Black Stars had also endured consecutive group-stage exits at the continental competition, increasing pressure on the team to rediscover its form.

The qualification campaign will begin later this year, with the opening two rounds of matches scheduled for the FIFA international window between September 21 and October 6, 2026.

Matchdays three and four will then be played during the November 9 to 17 international break, while the final round of fixtures is expected to take place between March 22 and March 30, 2027.

Only the top teams from the qualification groups will secure places at the AFCON finals, making every fixture crucial for Ghana as they seek a return to Africa’s biggest football stage.
