Bibiani GoldStars etched their name into Ghanaian football history by winning their first-ever Ghana Premier League title with a commanding 4-0 victory over Accra Lions on the final day of the 2024/25 season.

Just four years after earning promotion to the topflight, the Miners completed a remarkable journey by lifting the league trophy in front of a jubilant home crowd at Dun’s Park.

Heading into the final round of fixtures, GoldStars knew that only a win would guarantee them a shot at the title, with title rivals Nations FC and Asante Kotoko also in contention. Fortunately for the Bibiani-based side, both contenders faltered on the day, clearing the path for GoldStars to seize the moment.

With the stakes high, GoldStars wasted no time stamping their authority. Abdul Farouk Amoaful opened the scoring in the 4th minute with a well-taken finish that sent the home fans into early celebration.

The Miners continued to pile on the pressure, and in the 19th minute, Kelvin Oppong made it 2-0 with a simple tap-in following a pinpoint cross from the right flank.

Despite Accra Lions settling into the game and enjoying spells of possession, they struggled to break down GoldStars’ resilient defense and looked short of attacking ideas.

After the break, Samuel Atta Kumi extended the hosts’ lead with a powerful strike that effectively ended the contest. Five minutes later, Frank Amankwah added the icing on the cake with a fourth goal, sealing an unforgettable afternoon for the GoldStars faithful.

The emphatic win secured GoldStars’ place at the summit of the league table with 63 points, capping off a historic campaign for the club and their coach Frimpong Manso.

This triumph not only crowns them champions of Ghana but also earns them a spot in next season’s CAF Champions League, marking a new era for the rising force from Bibiani.
