Ghana’s Black Maidens have taken a decisive step toward the next stage of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers after a composed 2-0 triumph over Togo in the first leg of their tie.

Playing away at the Stade de Kégué on Saturday, April 12, the Ghanaian side delivered a disciplined and efficient performance, combining attacking sharpness with defensive solidity to put themselves in a strong position.

The breakthrough came early, with Priscilla Mensah finishing off a well-crafted move in the 16th minute to hand Ghana the lead. The forward’s movement and composure in front of goal set the tone for the rest of the encounter.

Ghana maintained control throughout the game, limiting their opponents while continuing to threaten in attack. Their dominance was rewarded again in the second half when Mensah struck for the second time in the 64th minute, calmly converting after another swift attacking passage.

With a two-goal cushion secured on the road, the Black Maidens now turn their attention to the return leg, where they will aim to complete the job and seal qualification.

The decisive fixture is scheduled to take place at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, April 18, with Ghana firmly in control as they look to progress to the next round.
