Bibiani GoldStars head coach Frimpong Manso has dismissed suggestions that the choice of venue for their CAF Champions League fixture against Algerian side JS Kabylie could affect his team’s performance.

The Ghanaian champions, who secured the Premier League title last season, have moved camp to Accra as they gear up for Sunday’s first-leg showdown. Their home ground, Dun’s Park, was deemed unsuitable for continental football after failing to meet CAF’s standards, prompting officials to designate the Accra Sports Stadium as the match venue.

Manso, however, remains unfazed by the switch. Speaking to Joy Sports, he emphasized that the location of the game is of little consequence to his players.

“Whether we are playing in Kumasi or playing in Accra, they are all neutral grounds. So if it will not affect us in Kumasi, I don’t think it will affect us in Accra,” he said.

The GoldStars coach acknowledged that hosting the tie in Bibiani would have been the ideal scenario but insisted his team is ready to adapt to any alternative arrangement.

“So for me, the venue I don’t think it’s going to matter. If we had gotten it in Bibiani, that would have been the best. But if it doesn’t happen, be it Accra, Cape Coast, whatever, they are all the same,” he added.

GoldStars will aim to capitalize on home advantage in the capital as they seek to take control of the tie before making the difficult trip to Algeria for the decisve return leg.
