Kpando Heart of Lions head coach Bashir Hayford has expressed satisfaction with his team’s resilient performance after holding Asante Kotoko to a goalless draw in Kumasi, a result that preserved their unbeaten start to the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.

The stalemate at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium saw the Lions remain at the top of the league table with 10 points from four matches, having secured three wins and a draw so far. Medeama SC follow closely behind with nine points.

Speaking after the match, the experienced tactician admitted that while victory would have been ideal, maintaining their unbeaten run was a bigger priority.

“It was a very hard-fought match and we split the points — it is okay for me,” Hayford told reporters.

“It is not even about staying at the top, it is the unbeaten for the four matches [that we’ve played so far]. It speaks volumes, so I like it that way.”

Under Hayford’s leadership, Heart of Lions have shown defensive solidity and tactical discipline.

The Kpando-based side will look to extend their fine run when they face Accra Hearts of Oak next.
