William Asare Named Competition Manager For 2026 ITTF-Africa Youth Cup In Accra

Ghana’s William Berekorang Asare has been appointed as the Competition Manager for the 2026 ITTF-Africa Youth Cup, which gets underway today, 28th and Wednesday, 29th July at the Borteyman Sports Complex in Accra.

The 2-Day event serves as an ITTF Ranking platform, and also to create impact across the continent through youth talents development.

Asare, who also serves as Treasurer of the Ghana Table Tennis Association, brings a wealth of experience to the role. This marks his 5th appointment as a Competition Manager for an ITTF event, a position he has held since 2019. His track record includes overseeing logistics, scheduling, and technical operations for several regional and continental tournaments, making him one of Ghana’s most experienced table tennis administrators.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Asare expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by the ITTF through the GTTA.

“I feel grateful for the opportunity given me by the ITTF through the GTTA. To serve Ghana and Africa on home soil is a big responsibility, and we are ready to deliver a tournament that meets international standards.” Asare said.

His appointment highlights Ghana’s growing capacity to host and manage elite table tennis events, and reinforces the GTTA’s commitment to developing both athletes and administrators for the future of the sport in Africa.
